My monthly swap Frog Punch Art

Don't you love this darling froggie?  This card was for my monthly swap to Cathy Bell.

Stamps: Petite Pairs

Colors: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Early Expresso, Bashful Blue, Whisper White

Punches: Wide Oval, Oval, 1" circle, punch pack-flower and circle

Goodies: Dimensionals, sponges, mini brads, Old Olive ribbon, scissors

I snipped a triangle out of the wide oval punch and sponged it for the lily pad; I adhered the flower on it and then punched the hole for the mini brad.  The little frog feet are the flowers as well but punched in Early Expresso.

Happy stamping!

Make and Takes from my upline's meeting

Last week (ish) my upline Stephanie had a meeting and we made these two cards.  I believe that they were make and takes from convention.  We had a fun meeting and Stephanie made tacos for everyone.  Hooray!  She even had yummy brownies for dessert.

Sandcastle card (summer punch art)

I can't take the credit for this card...I CASED it off of Dawn O's site.  (-:  This is the card I will be sending in my monthly demo swap.  Below I have a little tutorial in case you fall in love with the card like I did!  Dawn used the spiral punch (retired) on her sandcastle but I sold my punch AND could only use current merchandise in the swap.

Lightly adhere scallop circles to a scrap of paper to help with punching.

Off center the punch again to give the sun its fun shape.

Remove the sun from the scrap of paper.

Slip the Sahara Sand strip down the top and pull out most of it through design.  This will enable you to punch only the top.

Dimensions of the punches and shapes.

Stamps:  Bring on the Cake

Colors:  Daffodil Delight, Sahara Sand (of course!), Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue (base), and Marina Mist (of course for the water!)

Punches: Scallop circle, 1 3/8" circle, Word Window, Tag

Goodies:  Sponges, Color Spritzer, Snail

Domino necklaces

At club on Monday my friend Pat brought these gorgeous necklaces to show everyone.  I love them!  She used alcohol markers and stamped on dominoes.  I love them!  I should have gotten a closer pic of one of them because this picture does not do them justice.  Gorgeous!!!

Club Project Scentsational Bundle

Inspired by my 3x3 card the larger card is my club project.  The best part is that the candy canes are scented with the new scratch and sniff embossing powder!  Yummy!  I stamped on the ribbon with the "sweet" from Fabulous Phrases to step it up.  I am really enjoying the Festival of Prints paper pack; I originally purchased it to do a share but I can see myself using up the entire package for club projects and personal use.  Such fun patterns!

Scentsational Bundle 3x3 card

I know that the top two pictures are non-stamping related but I had to share them with everyone!  We went to my cousin's wedding in Billings, MT and the wedding was a in a lovely garden.  I just had to get some great pictures while we were there!  Isn't my honey so handsome?

I am back in the game thanks to Mary Fish's inspiration.  This is the first day that I have felt well enough to stamp which is a good thing.  I have a club on Monday!  LOL!  This is the Scentsational Bundle and it is so fun!  This month we will be using this fun bundle to make our cards in club.  I promised a card blitz and will be using this set potentially for all of my projects.

This 3x3 card will be given to everyone who purchases $50 or more this month.

Savvy Sharpening!

I found this great money saving tip on krazycouponlady.com.  (-:
A great pair of scissors is a must-have tool in any household. There is nothing worse than reaching for a pair of snips to start clipping those coupons only to find them dull and useless! Oh, the tragedy!
Professional sharpening can be expensive, and throwing the scissors away and buying a new pair is just wasteful.
Sandpaper is for more than just distressing furniture! Use it to sharpen your favorite pair of scissors. Find a small sheet of medium grade sandpaper. This grade is perfect for the job.
To sharpen your scissors, just snip the sandpaper with the scissors. Don’t rub the sandpaper on the scissors–just make cuts. Snip and cut about a dozen times. When finished, wipe the blades with a soft cloth, and try the scissors out on paper.
Not sharp enough? Cut the sandpaper a few more times.
Purchase sandpaper at any home improvement store, even Walmart, for less than $2. Why not give this simple trick a try and see what a difference it makes?

A Card in Waiting

This is another layout that I cased from Ann Schach.  I also used the same set she did.  I bought this set a couple of months ago and hadn't used it before now.  She used a polka dot designer series paper (if I remember correctly), but I made my own by embossing some more mustard cardstock with craft white ink and some winter white embossing powder.  This uses my new background stamp, distressed dots.  It is awesome.

I tried a new color combo that I saw out in blog land--Island Indigo, More Mustard, and Old Olive.  I also tried out one of the new Finishing Touches edgelits.  And trimming around these flowers wasn't that bad at all, but I really love the paper snips that Stampin' Up sells for tasks like this.  It makes it easy-peasy.  This is a great layout; I'll probably use it again.  It doesn't yet have a greeting and I decided to leave that until I know what I need.  Hence the "card in waiting" title...

Hope you are doing well..................Julie

A Birthday Card

I have a certain level of paranoia about spelling the word "birthday".  For our birthdays my mom would bake a sheet cake and decorate the top of it with those tubes of pre-made icing and the little plastic tips that would just thread on to the top.  Well, one time she wrote "Happy Birtday" and another "Happy Bithday".  Good natured teasing followed, but now we all have to check to make sure that it is written correctly.  All those consonents in a row can trip anybody up.  And I am somewhat prone to neuroses anyway.  Ask people who have met me...even comparative strangers...

The only thing this poor card did to deserve this story is to be a birthday card.  Seriously though, with a change of sentiment, it would make a great sympathy, get well, or thinking of you card.  Like most of my best card ideas, it was cased.  (This time from the very talented Ann Schach; she does such beautiful work.)  It showcases my new favorite set, Serene Silhouettes, and the Argyle embossing folder.

I liked the layout (and the set) so much that I decided to try it with bright colors and rhinestones.  It's not nearly as elegant, but it is cute.  I also gave the new chevron folder a test run through the Big Shot.

Until next time...........Julie
