My Mom's Birthday Card

As promised...a card for a more cheerful occasion.  My mom is an April Fool's Day baby.  This is the card that I made for her.  It uses Calypso Coral, Whisper White, a smidge of So Saffron, and Lucky Limeade.  A couple of times I have seen the stem from the set Sweetheart used with the new Blossom Punch.  (Boho Blossom punch and Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch also used on the bloom)  And who doesn't love a printed brad?  The 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon can be adhered with 1/4" Sticky Strip (or the like) to stay firmly in place without gluing down the pretty edges. I did use a couple of layers of dimensionals, but since this is being hand-delivered, it isn't a problem.

Hope you are having a nice Saturday.

Another Sympathy Card

I needed yet another condolence card, and I found inspiration in a card that Mary Fish did a couple of years ago now, I think.  She used the negative image from the little leaves sizzlet.   It seemed so appropriate.  The person himself has gone on to Heaven but the impression of his life is still left with us in the memories we have of him.

It is a simple card, but that seems fitting for the occasion.  I did distress the edges of the the sizzlet panel and the early espresso layer.  And I love the linen thread for a more organic feel.

Thanks for stopping by.  I promise to have a couple more cheerful cards next.

Hello!  I finally have my Downline Meeting projects completed so I had fun this morning (between tests, quizzes, and such) with my new Bright Blossoms stamp set.  This card features many of the new Summer Smooches line that will be available in the month of April.  I L-O-V-E this line of goodies!

This card is the Center Step Card for Stamp Camp.  Registration is $25 and will include four projects and instructions.  You will also get your own Bright Blossoms stamp set!

Keep checking back for more projects!

Peeps Easter Card

Yes, this is a shameless case of casing...lol!  I saw this card on Tami White's page and fell in love with it.  I did tweak it just a wee bit to make it mine.  I have 13 swaps to make for the downline meeting on Saturday and thought that the "wow factor" was high enough to warrant using this card for swapping.

I am thrilled that the weather is warm and the trees are starting to green up so that I can take my card pics outside on the deck again.  I love the sunshine!  We have been riding our bikes every day for PE.

Good afternoon!  This card will be for the demo meeting make-n-takes I am prepping.  It is a remake of a previous project but I thought that the other demos would enjoy playing with the maze games.  They are rather addicting!

You're a Gem Card Holder

Hello to everyone!  Julie and I thought that you might enjoy this neat tutorial by Stampin' Up's Carrie Cudney.  This video features the Simply Scored, Edgelits, Bordering on Romance stamp set, and many of the new products in the Occasions mini catalog. This project is actually a clever card holder so I am not sure why the sample she showed at the end is the photo appearing...lol

Enjoy!

A Sympathy Card

I had to send another sympathy card.  One of my aunts recently lost a special friend.  Birthday cards and thank you cards are a lot more fun to create, write, and send.  (Though I am sure that you already knew that...)

The center layout on this card was heavily inspired by a card that Judy May, an Australian demonstrator,  made earlier this month.

This picture is a little washed out, and I apologize.  I was trying to get it out in the mail right away and we have had a lot of overcast weather.

This is my other "project" lately...

Her name is Lilly and she is four.  She needed a new home.  Dorothy (cat numero uno) hasn't decided that she likes Lilly yet.  It has been interesting.  My husband and I have been getting immune to her....which has been an adventure since she likes to sleep with us, or should I say on top of us.

Hope you are having a good day,
Julie

Nursing Home Projects

Good morning!  Thursday was my nursing home class at the Golden Living Center.  Here are the simple projects that I came up with for the folks there to complete.  I pre-punch as many things as possible and keep the projects simple.  Some folks come but have us stamp because their hands simply can't hold the stamps.  Others are very mobile and enjoy the experience.  I have to admit...my kids have definite favorites there!  My best and most reliable helpers are my children and I am so proud of them!  My 11 year old son and my 8 year old daughter each take a table to teach a mini class to the residents.  My son has fun stamping with them and giving his projects to Sandy, the activities coordinator, for residents who were not able to attend.  Yes...I am bragging!  (-:

Have a wonderful day and happy stamping!

Mother's Day Card

Hello and happy stamping!  This card is for the upline meeting at the end of the month and will be my make and take project.  I am also using it for my monthly mailed swap (to kill two birds with one stone).  I did switch out the brads in the smaller flowers for the mini brads and loved the effect.  Also, the prongs on the mini brads are easier to bend so it was easier on my fingers to make all of those swaps!

I cased this card layout from Dawn O but changed quite a few aspects to make it uniquely mine.  Enjoy!

3x3 Blossom Punch Card

I wanted to let everyone know that I will be hosting a Stamp Camp on Saturday, April 28th.  If you are interested in more details please send me an email.  It will be held in Jefferson City, MO at the Missouri Blvd McCalister's Deli from 2:15 pm to 6:00 pm.

I am having so much fun with the Brights buttons (a Sale-a-bration freebie) and decided to add them to these 3x3 cards.  These little cuties will be given to everyone who purchases $50 or more from me at club or workshop.  I will include them in the order bags.  I am also involved in several 3x3 swaps this month and this card will be one of my swaps.

I punched out two white blossoms and snipped the top flower to layer on top of the bottom flower.  It gives a depth to the flower and makes it seem less...flat.  (-; In retrospect, a bit of yellow sponging along the edges of the top flower might be nice also...

Supplies:
Attic Boutique Designer Series paper
Whisper White Cardstock
Blossom Punch
Brights buttons
Lucky Limeade bakers twine
Mini glue dots
Snail Adhesive

Happy stamping!!!

Simply Adorned Jewelry

Hello!  Our church is having a Ladies Conference on April 13th and 14th; I was asked to create a birthday gift for one of our special speakers.  I love the Simply Adorned jewelry and the tea light box is a perfect fit!  I have lots of little 1" square inserts in the box so that she can switch out the inserts to match her outfit. I added "sprigs" of black and white grosgrain ribbon between the heart charms and the key trinket charms.  The conference theme is "What is in Your Purse--Trash or Treasure" and the theme verse is about where your heart is there will your treasure be also.  I thought the heart charms and key charms (like treasure chest keys) would tie in perfectly!

Right now the long chains are on the Clearance Rack for only $5.19 each!  I purchased another for myself because they are so easy to shorten.  Don't forget...the Simply Adorned line of jewelry will be gone soon!

Happy Stamping!

Summer Smooches Collection

I am super excited about the new Summer Smooches collection that will be available to order in the month of April.  All of these goodies will be in the new catalog so you are getting a chance to order them early!  Hooray!  Keep posted because I am going to pre-order them (perk of being a demonstrator) so that I can make fun projects to post.  The collection includes, brads, fabric, paper, templates, a purse die, Daffodil seam binding ribbon, and more!  Hooray!!!  Love this new set!!!  You can see a sneak peak of the goodies above or on the flyer here.  If you can't get the flyer let me know so that I can email it to you.

I am tentatively looking at a Stamp Camp using these products; I am considering April 21st or April 28th.

Happy Stamping!

What is it?

I saw the cutest new "thing" from another company.  It may even be the beginning of a new trend; you just never know.  What is it?  Thanks for asking...

Seed packets.  They had a die to make theirs, but I thought...Hey, I can do that.  I also added punch art (my own) to match the flavor of the Nerds.  (small seed-sized candies)

I hope you like them...my children will.  These are for Easter.

This project features the new Labels Collection framelits.  I love these types of dies.  It is great to be able to see exactly where you are placing them.  Let us know if you want detailed instructions.

Take care,
Julie

Tea Light box with Fun Flowers Die

 1.  Score the 5x6 box cover at 5/8", 2 1/4", 2 7/8", & 4 1/2". Your score lines should be 6" long.
 2.  Score the 3 3/4 x 8 box.  The long score lines are scored at 1/2, 1 1/8, 2 5/8, 3 1/4".  The short lines are scored at 1/2, 1 1/8, 7 1/8, 7 3/4".

 3.  Cut out the corners as shown to make the flaps.  Add sticky strip according to picture below.
 4.  Fold over flaps to create box.
 5.  Adhere sticky strip to one end (widest end) and wrap the lid around the box.  Peel back off sticky strip and press.  Stamp Mixed Flowers stamp with Wisteria Wonder on a 1 1/2 x 5 1/2" strip; mount on lid.

 6.  Sponge all three flowers and two centers with Wisteria Wonder.  Curl edges with a bone folder and then stack flowers with adhesive.  Stack centers and adhere with an In Color brad.  Adhere centers to flowers with a dimensional.

 7.  Stamp flowers on tissue paper and then lightly adhere corners (not flowers) to scrap paper.  Punch out the flowers with a circle punch.  Punch a small hole in the center for the wick of the tea light.  You MUST punch with the scrap paper behind the tissue paper or it won't work.
 8.  Insert the wick through the small hole and ensure that the wick is standing up so it won't melt onto the candle.  Heat the candle until the tissue paper is "hidden" under the wax and the wax looks wet.

Colors:
Whisper White
Wisteria Wonder (or Pool Party)

Stamp Sets:
Mixed Flowers (Occasions mini catalog)

Supplies:
Heat tool
Tea lights
In Color Brads
Simply Scored tool
Circle punch, 1 1/4" and hand held small circle
Ruffled Ribbon, Pool Party or Wisteria Wonder

Thinking of You #1

We have a couple recent widows in our church.  I wanted to make them a follow-up "Thinking of You" card.  It has only been a couple of months since they lost their husbands, and that isn't very long.  This is the first card...

I wanted the cards to be clean feeling. I chose soft colors because I didn't want them to be gloomy, but I didn't want them too cheerful either.

This card uses...
Stamps: Curly Cute
Paper: Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder
Ink: Wisteria Wonder
Other: Designer Brights buttons (free option during SAB), Perfect Polka Dots TIEF, Daisies #2 die, Adorning Accents edgelits

Hope you are having a pleasant Saturday..........Julie

Robot Punch Art Card and Others

Just some food for thought today. ..
This is a card that I made for my oldest son's last birthday...

This was a card that I made for my younger daughter's birthday; I don't remember where I first saw this sundae idea, but it was not my own.

And a previous valentine card for my husband that uses the inlaid embossing technique.

Hope you get some stamping time today.

Fun Flowers Bigz Die Card

Good morning, stamping friends!  The top card is a swap I got at Stamp Fest last fall and it was the inspiration for the bottom card, my club project this month.  I opted to brighten it a bit and use Twitterpated DSP from the Occasions mini catalog.   The ladies at my clubs always pulled out the inspiration card as their favorite and, I have to admit, it was mine as well.

Top Card colors:  Soft Suede and Very Vanilla
My Card colors:  Island Indigo and Whisper White

Supplies:
Fun Flowers Bigz Die
Big Shot
Scallop edge punch
Brad
Tulip Die Embossing folder
Sponges

My Father-in-Law's Birthday Cards

I made this card last year for my father-in law.  He likes to feed the birds and the kids like to watch and help sometimes.  They have a lot of chickadees around.  There have been several different versions of a chickadee that are made with the Bird Builder punch.  (The person on whose chickadee I based mine, doesn't have a blog anymore.)

The berries are made with 1/4" circles punched out of cherry cobbler and coated with crystal effects.  It uses the scallop circle die.  Everything else is fairly self-explanatory, I think.  If not, let me know.

Also using the Bird Builder punch and a Sale-a-Bration freebie (Language of Friendship), this is the card we will send for his birthday this year.

My father-in-law is partially color-blind.  Red and green look brown so I don't put too much of those colors on his cards.  I wanted something more than blue this year so I decided to add the Daffodil Delight.

Take care,
Julie

New items featured on this card include the Adorning Accents edgelits dies, Adorning Accents embossing folders and Fashionable Hearts embosslits die.  The stamped images are from the Up,Up, & Away stamp set.

Oval All Card

Good morning!  Phew!  What way to start my morning...we had a severe hailstorm cut a half mile swath through our area and our house was smack dab in the middle!  The back deck was so covered by hail that it looked like snow at first glance.  The kids were both up before 6:00 am so today will be an interested exercise in character for all parties involved.  LOL!  They will get to learn to discipline themselves to do school work while tired because no one fell back asleep.  (-:

Yesterday a group of the homeschoolers from our church met at Bonkers in Columbia for a PE/activity.  We had a blast!  I took a basket of goodies prepped and ready to go so that I could finish my Grandma Dixie's card.  I did improvise on the card I posted a few days ago; I am pleased with the results.

Scallop Oval Punch Flowers Part 2

As promised, I made a card with one of the flowers from the scallop oval punch pictorial that I posted on Tuesday.  I had some friends over to make these cards a couple of weeks ago.  They are slightly smaller at about 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.  I used the larger scallop circle on the scallop circles die #2.  I plan on using it as sort of a tag on a package though it does open like a card.  You can't see that I punched a hole (behind the petal and thru the card base) with my Crop-A-Dile so that I can just hook it to the package with a big pouf of curling ribbon.

Items used:
Stamps:  Fabulous Phrases
Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz
Ink:  Basic Black, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz
Other: Scallop Oval Punch, Word Window Punch, Large Oval Punch (for the leaves), Lots of Tags Sizzlets, Scallop Circles #2 die, 3" Circle Die, Perfect Polka Dots TIEF, In Color Glimmer brads, glue dots, Snail adhesive, sponge daubers, paper piercing tool

Happy Stamping...Julie
